Video Poker is a beloved game that can be bet on in casinos all over the globe, or alternatively at your house on your personal computer, through an Internet connection. The rules are absolutely simple and involve the player trying to achieve the best mixture of cards as you can in order to come away with money. In this respect it is very similar as a classic game of poker, minus the line of contact with other players. Of course, methods used in a physical game of poker, like bluffing, will be irrelevant here.
The game of Video Poker starts when the gambler inserts credits (whether it’s tokens, tickets or money) into the machine and presses the play button. A 5 card hand will be "distributed" on the video screen.
The Video Poker machine also has hold buttons, and gamblers will need to now pick which cards to hold and which to discard. For the cards the bettor would like to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can choose to keep any amount of cards they wish, from all to none.
After the bettor has decided on which cards she wishes to retain, the player will then press ‘deal’, at which point any new cards will be handed out if desired. The game is now completed, with the Video Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands printed on the pay out schedule.
Generally, the lowest succeeding hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money getting larger for each better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to 2 pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It definitely goes without saying that the payment schedule can vary from game to game, so that skillful gamblers are agile enough to choose the most beneficial machine every instance.
Once the initial round has played out, the player can either choose to continue on in an attempt to maximize their earnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any credits that they may have won. Further, several versions of the game give the enthusiast a chance to increase their winnings, in which situation a further hand is played. There are also differences between individual games, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other varying characteristics to enhance playability.
