Video Poker is a favored game that can be played in casinos across the globe, or in your house on your PC, through an Internet connection. The game rules are absolutely simple and involve the player attempting to get the greatest mixture of cards possible in order to acquire money. In this respect it is very similar as a normal game of poker, minus the interaction with other players. Of course, methods employed during a physical game of poker, like bluffing, will be useless in Video Poker.
The game of Video Poker begins when the player puts credits (whether it is tokens, tickets or cash) into the video poker machine and pushes the draw button. A hand of five cards will be electronically ‘handed out’ on the video screen.
The Electronic Poker game also has buttons with ‘hold’ written on them, and gamblers will need to now pick which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the gambler wishes to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can decide to keep any number of cards they wish, from all to none.
After the enthusiast has chosen which cards she would like to keep, the player will then press ‘deal’, at which point any fresh cards are needed they will be dealt. The round is now finished, with the Video Poker machine scanning the hand to see if it matches any of the winning hands listed in the pay out schedule.
Normally, the minimum succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money increasing for each better hand. A common list of winning hands begins with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It should be known that the payout schedule can vary from machine to machine, so that knowledgeable enthusiasts are agile enough to pick the most profitable game each and every time.
After the initial round has played out, the player can either decide to stay on in an attempt to increase their winnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any money that they may have won. Additionally, some versions of the game give the enthusiast a chance to double their winnings, in which instance a further game is played. There are also differences between specific machines, with some decks of cards having wild cards and other differing elements to enhance playability.
