Video Poker is a favored game that can be enjoyed in casinos around the world, or alternatively at your house on your computer, through a net account. The game rules are very straightforward and consist of the player attempting to achieve the greatest combination of cards as you can in order to win money. In this respect it is much the same as a regular game of poker, minus the interaction with any other players. Of course, techniques employed during a physical game of poker, like tricking, will be useless in Video Poker.
The game of Electronic Poker begins when the player puts credits (either tokens, credit slips or money) into the machine and pushes the deal button. A 5 card hand will then be electronically ‘distributed’ on the screen.
The Video Poker machine also has buttons with ‘hold’ written on them, and enthusiasts will need to now pick which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the bettor would like to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons need to be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they want, from all to none.
After the bettor has decided on which cards he wishes to keep, they should press ‘draw’, at which point any fresh cards will be needed they will be dealt. The round is now completed, with the Video Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands shown on the payout schedule.
Normally, the lowest succeeding hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money increasing for each better hand. A common list of winning hands begins with jacks or better, and moves on to two pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It is obvious that the payout schedule can change from machine to machine, so that skillful players are agile enough to select the most profitable machine each and every instance.
Once the first round has played out, the player can either choose to continue on in an attempt to increase their winnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any cash that has been won. Further, some styles of the game give the player a chance to double their wins, in which situation a further game is played. There are also variations between specific games, with some decks of cards including wild cards and other differing characteristics to increase playability.
