Video Poker is a favored game that is able to be bet on in casinos across the world, or alternatively at home on your personal computer, through a net connection. The rules are very simple and involve the player trying to achieve the best combination of cards as you can in order to acquire cash. On this account it is much the same as a classic game of poker, without the line of contact with competing players. Of course, techniques employed during a physical game of poker, such as bluffing, will be irrelevant in Video Poker.
The game of Electronic Poker starts when the bettor puts credits (either tokens, tickets or cash) into the video poker machine and presses the draw button. A hand of five cards will be "distributed" on the screen.
The Electronic Poker machine also has hold buttons, and players should now choose which cards to hold and which to discard. For the cards the bettor would like to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons need to be pressed so that they light up. The player can decide to keep any amount of cards they wish, whether it is all or none.
After the player has chosen which cards he wishes to retain, the player will then press ‘deal’, at which point any fresh cards are needed they will be given out. The hand is now finished, with the Electronic Poker machine scanning the hand to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands printed on the payout schedule.
Generally, the lowest winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money increasing for each better hand. A common list of winning hands begins with jacks or better, moving on to 2 pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It is obvious that the pay out schedule can change from machine to machine, so that discerning enthusiasts are able to pick the most money-making game every time.
Once the initial round has completed, the player can either choose to remain on and try to to increase their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any money that they may have won. Further, a few versions of the game give the bettor an opportunity to increase their profits, in which situation another game is played. There are also differences between specific games, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other differing characteristics to increase playability.
